Bringing your own touch to the development and management of the Memorial Park gardens, supporting your team and assisting with cremation and burial duties, you will be responsible for the provision of general park, burial and cremation concerns.Working closely with the Operations Manager to approve budgets and lead a small team of grounds staff, you will undertake the upkeep, maintenance and development of the beautiful Memorial Park that make up the cemetery gardens and grounds, spanning 40 acres; as well as actively contributing to new projects, staff development and change management.Due to the nature of this position, it is absolutely imperative, that you are comfortable working in a sensitive environment where you will be exposed to grief and the expression of it.YOUR NEW DUTIESAdhering to our Client’s quality standards, you will oversee and coordinate day-to-day park memorialisation and cremation operations, such as:Evaluate, develop, schedule and coordinate building and grounds maintenance activitiesSchedule and coordinate cremationsComplete all park and cremation paperwork accurately and in a timely mannerAttend meetings (locally and in Brisbane and surrounds)Manage and support general hands/grounds staff across operational issues and in their daily activitiesProvide exceptional customer service, greeting funeral teams, families, suppliers and visitors as requiredCarry out grave digging procedures, burials (handling and receding coffins), preparation and reinstating of vaults/cryptsCollection and memorialisation of cremated remainsGeneral garden maintenance and landscaping dutiesImplement a regular maintenance regimeOperation and maintenance of all machine and hand held gardening equipmentAdherence to a clean and safe workplaceOther duties as requiredSKILLS AND EXPERIENCEPrevious experience working outdoors in gardens, parks or landscaping in variable weather conditionsCustomer focused and have sensitivity to grieving people, maintaining professionalismStrong attention to detailUse of hand operated gardening machinery and power toolsValid open driver's licenceDingos, bobcats and other machinery tickets/experience (beneficial)Sound understanding of WHSCrematorium furnace operator licence (advantageous)Horticultural qualification or similar (desirable)Even though this position is predominantly Monday to Friday, you must be available (with notice) for after hours work, weekends, rosters, meetings, functions and training, and to travel to our Clients other sites if required. If you enjoy working outdoors in varied conditions, have an empathetic nature to work in this environment and are physically fit, please submit your full resume and a covering letter via the link below. Successful candidates will be physically fit and required to undergo a full criminal record check and medical prior to employment, and undertake regular drug and alcohol screening. You must be either an Australian Citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa to be eligible to apply for this position.  Australia - QLD Toowoomba & Darling Downs

THE NEW ROLE

As the Park/Garden Supervisor, you will actively contribute to a friendly and positive working environment where business outcomes, customer service, and staff cooperation are your focus. YOUR NEW DUTIES

  • Collection and memorialisation of cremated remains
  • General garden maintenance and landscaping duties
  • Implement a regular maintenance regime
  • Operation and maintenance of all machine and hand held gardening equipment
  • Adherence to a clean and safe workplace
  • Other duties as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience working outdoors in gardens, parks or landscaping in variable weather conditions
  • Customer focused and have sensitivity to grieving people, maintaining professionalism
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Use of hand operated gardening machinery and power tools
  • Valid open driver's licence
  • Dingos, bobcats and other machinery tickets/experience (beneficial)
  • Sound understanding of WHS
  • Crematorium furnace operator licence (advantageous)
  • Horticultural qualification or similar (desirable)
