ABOUT THE COMPANYLocated in the southern part of the Gold Coast region and established for over 30 years, our client is a multi-award winning, family-owned and operated Australian construction company, specialising in roll formed construction panels with wide-span capabilities for a range of industries including defence, agriculture, aviation, education, and recreation.ABOUT THE ROLEUsing your mechanical aptitude, you will undertake training on the company’s in-house roll forming machines and will assist in all activities and operations associated with the use, maintenance, transportation and security of the roll forming equipment. Your training will lead towards you becoming a fully licensed Roll Form Machine Operator and will see you managing smaller projects and providing relief cover for the Senior Roll Form Operator as required.Once fully trained, this position will see you travel to various construction sites throughout Australia and New Zealand, which, subject to the location and scope of the relevant project, could be for a duration of two to eight weeks. ABOUT THE ROLE

Using your mechanical aptitude, you will undertake training on the company’s in-house roll forming machines and will assist in all activities and operations associated with the use, maintenance, transportation and security of the roll forming equipment. DUTIES

  • Preparing and mounting coils
  • The roll form production of quality products within QA specifications
  • Providing information for reports on the machine performance, coil steel usage and the roll form machine status
  • The correct operation of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
  • The daily production needs of the machine to meet project schedules
  • General construction tasks as directed by the Project Manager and/or Site Supervisor
  • Maintenance and repair of equipment between projects

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A trade qualification (mechanical, fitter and turner, boilermaker, hydraulics or extensive relevant experience)
  • Strong mechanical and electronics aptitude
  • Good communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Commitment to safety
  • Current open driver’s licence
  • Construction Industry White Card

The following skills and experience would be beneficial in support of your application:

  • Site construction experience with crane knowledge
  • Prior experience in roll form operation, sheet metal or working with coil steel
  • Roofing knowledge and experience
  • PLC experience
  • Other tickets such as Dogman, Rigger, Confined Spaces, EWP, Working at Heights and Forklift
  • Current valid passport (or ability to obtain one)
